Celtic’s clash with Kilmarnock has been handed an unusual 4pm Sunday kick-off despite the game not being selected for live TV coverage.

Martin O’Neill’s side welcome Killie to Celtic Park on Sunday, November 8, but supporters won’t be able to watch the Premiership encounter live on Sky Sports or Premier.

The later start is understood to have been agreed between all parties, including Police Scotland, because of Remembrance Sunday events and significant roadworks around Glasgow.

Police resources will be in demand earlier in the day as serving military personnel, veterans and civic leaders gather in George Square to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Glasgow’s main remembrance service returns to George Square after being temporarily moved to Glasgow Cathedral while redevelopment work affected the square and Cenotaph. The public service begins at 10.45am and is expected to finish at around 11.45am.

Travel around the city is also being affected by essential gantry refurbishment work on the M8 and M77, which is ongoing from Friday, October 30 until Saturday, November 28.

The combination of those factors means Celtic and Kilmarnock will have to wait until 4pm before getting down to business in the east end of Glasgow.

And there is recent precedent. The corresponding fixture last season, staged on the same Remembrance weekend, was also given a 4pm Sunday kick-off.
