RANGERS have confirmed that they will head to Canada next month to take part in a glamour friendly with Benfica.

Pedro Caixinha’s side have been lined up as opponents for the Portuguese giants for their annual Eusebio Cup clash.

The likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Ajax have all taken part in the competition in recent years, which was won by the Eagles last summer as they beat Torino on penalties.

Rangers will travel to Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario for the match, which will take place on Friday, October 6.

The Gers will play their final game before the international break when they face Hamilton Accies on Friday, September 29 before they make the trip across the Atlantic.

A meeting with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park will be their first match back on Scottish soil as the Premiership resumes on Friday, October 13.

The Benfica fixture will be the first time the Light Blues have played in Canada side their pre-season win over Ottawa Fury three years ago as midfielder Nicky Law scored the only goal of the game.
