Discussions are under way around the prospect of UEFA using Croke Park as a large scale Europa League final fan zone venue - with Dublin hosting 'fears' growing.

The showpiece final, which could feature British representation, takes place at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday May 22.

Rangers, West Ham, Brighton and Liverpool all remain in the last-16, with many clubs such as Philippe Clement's Gers likely to bring more supporters than the 52,000 capacity stadium can handle. While it also has the prospect of being the last game of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool tenure.

The Independent report UEFA are currently talking to Irish authorities about using Croke Park as a spill-off fan zone to help house the expected numbers. That would potentially help ease police concerns and assist the housing of extra punters, who travel without match tickets.

Accommodation in Dublin for the final date is already sold out, with those looking to be in the Irish capital to be part of the occasion being left without a place to sleep.

Rangers host Benfica at Ibrox in the second leg on Thursday. The tie sits finely poised at 2-2 and the winner will go straight into Friday's quarter-final draw.
