The Scottish Professional Football League claim they are disappointed that Sunday's cinch Premiership clash between Dundee and Rangers couldn't go ahead - and they will be launching an investigation into why.

Rangers were left seething when match official Don Robertson ruled the Dens Park pitch unplayable because of "heavy rain" only hours before kick-off. The call-off means Celtic stay top of the league going into the international break.

It's Dundee's third home game postponement this season, after matches against Aberdeen and St Johnstone were also rescheduled due to a waterlogged pitch.

An SPFL spokesperson said: “The postponement of any match is disappointing given the impact it has on supporters.

“This was particularly disappointing given the fact it was a live Sky Sports match and the proximity of the match to the split.

“The SPFL will be investigating the circumstances surrounding this postponement.”
