Jonathan Hunter-Barrett will no longer become Rangers' academy director in the new year, it has been revealed.
The Englishman was poised to take the key role in the academy at Auchenhowie at the start of 2026, teaming up again with Kevin Thelwell again after the pair worked together at Wolves.
He had been identified as the man to head up youth development under a new football structure.
In his final interview with Rangers TV, Thelwell confirmed the appointment and told how Hunter-Barrett would be in Glasgow from January onwards.

However, the Rangers Review now reports the deal to bring him north is now off after a mutual agreement between the two parties. He will remain at Wolves in a new position.
Former sporting director Thelwell, sacked last week along with CEO Patrick Stewart, had been criticised for continually empoying people with whom he had previous links, including his own son Robbie.
Hunter-Barrett, 35, was promoted to the role of head of academy coaching at Wolves in 2019 and became academy manager in 2022. Thelwell was academy manager at Wolves from 2013-2016 before being made sporting director, a role he held from 2016-2020 at the club.
