Standard Life won Deal of the Year and Flotation of the Year at the Deals and Dealmakers Awards in Glasgow last night.

Dealmaker of the Year went to Ally Scott, head of Barclays Business Banking's Leveraged Finance team in Scotland.

He took the title after his team took Barclays business banking from a standing start to become Scotland's number one leveraged finance team, completing over 30 transactions in the past two years.

The awards, in association with Business Insider and the Royal Bank of Scotland, took place last night at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow in front of an audience of 800 figures from the corporate community.

The judging panel was chaired by Eric Hagman CBE, chairman of Aon, Scotland and included Sir Angus Grossart CBE, chairman of Noble Grossart, Keith Miller CBE, group chief executive of Miller Developments, Derek Douglas of the Adam Smith Institute, and Professor Alex Scott, academic director of Edinburgh Business School.

Acquisition of the Year went to Abbot Group for its £323m purchase of Songa Drilling, while Sale of the Year was LCH Generator's £62m disposal to SpeedyHire.

Others winners were: MBO/MBI of the Year - Total Waste Management Alliance; Small/ Mid-Size Company - Energy Environmental acquisition of Vikoma International; Dealmaking Team of the Year - Lime Rock Oil & Gas Specialist Team; Emerging Dealmaker of the Year - Cara Haffey, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
