EVENTS catering company Hickory is bolstering its portfolio of wedding venues after securing a 10-year contract with historic Oxenfoord Castle in Midlothian.

The Edinburgh-based company, established in 2012, will be the exclusive wedding and events management company for the castle near Pathhead, on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Hickory is currently the exclusive catering partner for wedding venues Eskmills Venue and Dunglass Estate, both in East Lothian. It also operates as a partner for around 30 other venues including Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute and the National Trust for Scotland’s properties.

Oxenfoord Castle, owned by Michael and Harriet Dalrymple who farm the estate, dates back to the 16th century and was originally a tower house. The main castle was developed by architect Robert Adam in 1782.

Hickory’s focus will be to reinforce Oxenfoord’s status as one of the leading wedding venues in the Lothians. The castle, which sits in park and woodland and boasts noted gardens, has a church – Cranston – on site.

Stephanie Stubbs, Hickory’s managing director, said: “With all the romance of a Scottish castle in a beautiful rural setting just 15 minutes from Edinburgh, Oxenfoord Castle is a wonderful wedding and events venue.

“We’re very excited to be its exclusive catering and events partner and can’t wait to introduce our contemporary catering in such historic surroundings.”

Owner Mr Dalrymple added: “We’re delighted to be working with Hickory to develop our reputation for weddings and events. Our family is naturally very proud of Oxenfoord Castle and we know it is safe in the expert hands of Hickory.”

Oxenfoord Castle has capacity for 120 people.
