THE owner of Aberdeen International, Glasgow and Southampton airports has confirmed a raft of new appointments to its executive committee as it prepares to build back business and plot a pathway out of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mark Johnston takes up the new role of chief operating officer for AGS Airports. Reporting to chief executive Derek Provan, Mr Johnston has been with the group for nearly 16 years and held a series of management roles including managing director of Glasgow Airport.

Another key appointment is Gillian Bruton who joins AGS as chief financial officer. With experience in both the transport and aviation sectors, Ms Bruton was previously finance director for Highlands and Islands Airports.

Roger Hunt, meanwhile, takes on the new role of chief of business services, which will see him lead critical support functions within the group including human resources, capital and planning, innovation, IT, and procurement. He has held senior positions at Aberdeen airport and across the wider group during the last decade.

Joining AGS as commercial director is Matt Wood, an established aviation professional with over 15 years’ experience across airlines and airports. Mr Wood has worked for easyJet, Wizz Air, Spanair and Gatwick Airport where he was head of airline relations. He joins AGS from Norwegian where he held senior roles in network, strategy and commercial management.

In addition, Mark Beveridge and Ronald Leitch have been appointed to the operations director roles at Aberdeen and Glasgow respectively, with Steve Szalay continuing in the same position at Southampton Airport.

Derek Provan said: “The AGS group and the wider aviation industry have faced huge challenges that would have been inconceivable just 12 months ago.

"The pathway to recovery begins now and while the months and years ahead of us will be difficult, I’m confident the wealth of experience and expertise brought by our new executive committee will be key to ensuring AGS Airports is in a strong position to build back better.”
