What is it?

A powerful, multi-functional handheld vacuum.

Packing for a holiday or business trip can feel like an exercise in military level strategic planning as you work out how to best maximise use of your suitcase. One nifty solution is vacuum storage bags. The Pacum handheld vacuum removes excess air, freeing up to 50 per cent more space.

Good Points?

Half the size of an iPhone X, the compact design makes it easy to take anywhere with you. The airflow power rate is an impressive 9.4 PSI and appears to validate Masterspace's claim that the Pacum is four times faster at deflating bags than comparator products.

Operation is simple and takes just over a minute to reduce the volume of a pile of clothes. The rechargeable battery is powered by a supplied USB type-C cable or AC power adapter. It has the bonus of being able to switch modes to blow up pool inflatables and balls.

A "padaptor" allows the Pacum to be compatible with most third-party vacuum bags making it a cost-effective option. When in operation, the device is no noisier than a standard air conditioning unit.

Bad points?

If airport security decides upon a thorough inspection, you may need to repack and reseal the vacuum storage bags.

Best for ...

Those who travel with everything but the kitchen sink and want to maximise space.

Avoid if ...

You prefer to simply fling your clothes in a bag and go – without adding to the stress of having something else on the to-do list.
