Firefighters were pelted with stones and had to call the police when on a callout in Glasgow

The Scottish Fire and Rescue crews were called to Garthamlock on Tuesday night following a fire report.

However, crews had to call in the cops when the gang of young people began throwing stones at them as they were trying to put out the blaze near a wooded area on Darnaway Avenue. 

Police Scotland confirmed they are investigating the incident. No descriptions of those involved were provided.

A force spokeswoman said: "It was about 8.15pm on Tuesday, July 2, fire officers were attempting to attend a fire in Darnaway Avenue when they were hit by objects from a number of youths in the area. 

"An investigation is underway to identify those involved and enquiries are ongoing."
