Mika Biereth has been recalled from his loan at Motherwell by Arsenal.

The Denmark Under-21 international is back at his parent club after spending the first half of the season in Lanarkshire.

The 20-year-old scored six goals and notched five assists in 15 productive appearances for the Steelmen.

Reports in recent days have claimed that Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday are keen on the striker to help bolster their attack in their fight for survival.

Fir Park boss Stuart Kettlewell confirmed the blow in his press conference this morning, as he revealed it was unexpected news.

“Mika has been recalled," he said. "It’s been a difficult one for us over the last 24 hours. It’s a major, major disappointment.

“This was a little bit unexpected. The conversation was that Mika would stay here until the end of the season just last week unless something big came on the table for Arsenal that they couldn’t turn down.

“They believe there’s an opportunity to send him to another club that takes him that step beyond where we are just now.”

Meanwhile, Derek Adams has warned any clubs interested in Yan Dhanda will not get him on the cheap this month.

The 25-year-old has been a standout performer since joining Ross County 18 months ago.

The former Liverpool youth product has caught the eye of various clubs north and south of the border, especially with his contract due to expire this summer.

Heart of Midlothian are interested in a pre-contract deal to bring him to Tynecastle, as Steven Naismith looks to bolster his attacking ranks.

While Dhanda is free to speak to any interested parties about a pre-contract at this stage, Adams insists the Staggies haven't given up hope of convincing him to stay put in the Highlands.

And if he were to be enticed away this month, then it would cost the buying a club a pretty penny.
