Malones Leith, Edinburgh
Malones has opened a second Edinburgh location in Leith. As well as bar favourites, the menu focuses on quality, locally-caught seafood, a speciality of head chef, Ruxi Mirton-Teng. Ruxi, a Leith local who previously worked at Michelin-starred restaurant Heron, will offer high-quality pub grub with an Irish twist, celebrating the Leith-Irish connection.

Lyla, Edinburgh
Edinburgh based chef Stuart Ralston will debut Lyla this October, a new 28-cover seafood-focused restaurant on Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace. Lyla will be an ode to Scottish isles produce, focusing on ingredients from the coast and the earth. The 10-course tasting menu will focus on unexpected flavour pairings. Lyla is Ralston’s fourth restaurant in Edinburgh, following Aizle, Noto, and Tipo.

Civerinos, Glasgow
In September, Civerinos will open its first venue outside of Edinburgh, in Finnieston, Glasgow. The popular pizza bar already has four locations in Edinburgh: Slice bars in Portobello and the city centre, a restaurant on Hunter Square, just off the Royal Mile, and a delivery kitchen that also houses the company’s production kitchen, training academy and creative studio.

Karen’s Diner, Edinburgh
The world’s rudest restaurant chain is set to open in the capital next month, coinciding with a Fringe show at The Biscuit Factory, Bonnington, August 24-27. The order of the day here is a comic roast with a side dish of insults.
