Gary Townsend's recipe: Jam roly-poly with homemade custard
This was one of the first things I ever baked as a child, and I remember rolling out the pastry with my mu, adding the jam and then waiting at the oven door, full of anticipation for what I was about to taste. Served with a generous glug of warm custard, this sweet jammie sponge takes me back to my youth. A real retro dessert and proper comfort food.
